YVENS

Age: 13
DOB: Unknown
City of Origin: Belekou, Cité Soleil

Yvens spent most of his life on the streets where he had to face dangers and work to be able to feed himself (wiping windows of cars, loading cars and waxing shoes). The street became hell for him every day. The best day of his life was the day he was brought to the center (Avanse) where he experienced intense and emotional moments in a family atmosphere. He fondly recalls his first visit to the park where he could play with his brothers and have fun with the carefreeness of a child. Yvens is brilliant and loves school. He plays football (soccer) and dreams of one day becoming a professional player. He is very confident and ambitious. He recently won the Cetemoh school spelling bee and wants to work hard to keep this honor every year until he graduates! He is motivated by the idea of safer country and wants to contribute as a policeman.

Since his arrival at the Avanse center, he has been given multiple responsibilities that have made him more confident and successful. One of his favorite activities is to go to school. He closely follows his mathematics classes which is his favorite subject. At Avanse, he loves making memories. One of his favorite days was around Christmas 2017 where he and his brothers received beautiful gifts. He wants to become a police officer when he grows up. His favorite sport is basketball. After the summer vacation, he is eager to find his new classroom and make new friends.

He is a discreet and intelligent boy with a sense of seriousness and responsibility. He likes to play and his passion is football (soccer). His favorite subject at school is mathematics and he wants to become an engineer. The best two days of his life were the day he received a good grade at school and his mother gave him a bike, and the day he and his brothers at Avanse went to Brenda's apartment in Bourdon for the first time and had fun in the pool. He wants to improve his performance in school.
